Jensen PW 12 - 1951
:Welcome to the world of elegant, luxurious vintage cars under the name of Jensen, an automaker whose customer niche from the earliest days has been the aristocratic public with impeccable taste in cars.
The history of the Jensen company begins in the late 20s of the last century (1928), when the Jensen brothers, Alan and Richard built their first sports car body on an Austin Seven chassis. At that time they were only 22 and 19 years old. Very soon they gained a reputation as coachbuilders in the automotive industry.
Having sold some very cool custom bodies for Wolseley Hornets, Morris Eights and small Fords, as well as being behind the mass production of cars for car manufacturer Standart, the Jensen brothers founded their own company and signed a contract with Ford, converting a V8 chassis into sleek English bodywork, eventually led to a meeting with Edsel Ford.
But the real magic happened after World War II, when the company released the PW luxury sedan. The result is a spacious four-door, six-seater car built on a steel chassis with an aluminum body. The PW was designed in a style later adopted by Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
The car was beautifully proportioned, with the distinctive Jensen radiator standing out and a sharp line drawn above the headlights in a streamlined position. The aluminum body was mounted on a wooden frame, as was the case with pre-war Jensen models.
The PW was first publicly unveiled at the British Motor Industry Jubilee Cavalcade held in London's Hyde Park in July 1946. The design and features were praised by the press. PW were made only individually to order. This car has never been mass-produced. Everyone had their own number.
According to Jörg Hüsken, JOC's "first car registrar", of the 18 cars produced, at least 6 can still be traced.
PW 01: Most likely preserved, this was Lord Strathcarron's car.
PW 08: One of two 4-door convertibles currently undergoing restoration in Germany.
PW 10: owned by Jörg Hüsken.
PW 11: Sold in 1993, road tax paid in 1995.
it is not known where the car is now.
PW 12: has been in the collection of Mahi, Belgium for a long time. Today it is in a private collection in France with the possibility of sale.
PW 17: Exported to Thailand in 1951 and offered for sale in 2011 and 2017.
